What Classical loops usually bring

Classical loops here are strings, piano, choir and orchestral textures recorded or arranged to repeat: a cello ostinato, a string quartet phrase, a piano figure or a choral swell. Producers in hip-hop, trap and drill build on them often, and orchestral material has a long history under all three.

Classical music has tempo markings rather than a fixed grid, but loops made for other producers tend to sit between 60 and 100 BPM and are cut to a steady tempo so they drop straight into a session. A recorded performance drifts, so a loop that has been tightened to the grid without losing its phrasing is far easier to build on.

Collaborating on Classical loops

When a classical loop is an original performance or arrangement, the loop maker is a composer or performer on the finished beat, and the credit should say which. When it borrows a well-known theme, the composition itself may be in the public domain while existing recordings of it usually are not, which is why a newly performed version is the one you can build on.

On ColabLoop, you ask the loop's owner to build on it, and if they accept, a private room opens with the full WAV to take into your own DAW. When the beat is released, both of you attest that the owner is on the split. ColabLoop records those attestations; registering the split with a PRO or distributor is still yours to do.

Classical questions

What BPM is Classical?
Classical usually sits between 60 and 100 BPM. Tempo is a marking, not a grid; loops tend to sit here. These are conventions, not rules, and nothing on ColabLoop restricts the tempo of Classical loops.
Can I build a beat on a classical piece?
A composition old enough to be in the public domain can usually be performed freely, but a recording of it is usually protected. A loop the producer performed and recorded themselves avoids that. Every loop on ColabLoop is checked against released recordings when it is uploaded. This is general information, not legal advice.
Do classical loops work in trap and drill?
Often. A string or choir loop at 70 BPM sits under a 140 BPM trap or drill beat at half time, and orchestral textures have been a staple of both for years.
