Verification, collaborating, uploads and your account. If something here is wrong or missing, tell us and we'll fix it.
Getting started4
Do I need an account to browse?
No. Browsing, filtering and previewing loops all work signed out. You need an account to send a collaboration request, publish a loop, or open a workspace.
What does it cost to collaborate?
Nothing. Browsing, previewing, messaging a producer, sending a collaboration request, the shared workspace, the stems and the full-quality download are all free. The only thing that uses your quota is publishing a loop of your own.
How do I get verified?
Sign up, then submit the profile you sell from — BeatStars, Airbit, Soundee, Traktrain, Bandcamp or another marketplace. We give you a short code to put in that profile's bio, and someone on our team opens it and checks. It is a manual review, so it is not instant, and there is no way to skip the queue.
Why does verification take a person?
Because that is the whole point of it. Every producer here was checked by hand against a real catalogue of their work before they could publish or request anything, which is why a message on ColabLoop tends to get read instead of ignored. An automated check would be faster and would prove nothing.
Collaborating4
What happens when someone accepts my request?
A private workspace opens for the two of you. It has live chat on one side and versioned stems on the other, so every file, message and revision stays organised in one place — no inbox to dig through and no confusion over which version is current.
Who owns the finished track?
You and your collaborator do, in whatever split you agree. ColabLoop is not a party to it and does not take a cut. What the product does is make sure the conversation happens before the track is finished rather than after.
How are credits and splits confirmed?
The first time either of you downloads the full file, both producers' credits and contact details are exchanged automatically. A collaboration can then only be marked complete once you have both confirmed the split — completion requires agreement from both collaborators, so nobody can quietly call it done without you.
Can I see whether a producer actually replies?
Yes. Every producer's response rate and average reply time are shown on their profile and beside their loops, calculated from their real activity over the last 90 days. Producers can also mark themselves as not currently taking collaborations, which is shown on their profile.
Uploading & quota4
What can I upload?
A single WAV between 10 and 60 seconds, made by you. You confirm three things when you publish: it is your own work, it is not AI-generated, and it is not copyrighted material.
What is the copyright check?
Every upload is fingerprinted against commercial releases before it goes live. A clean result publishes straight away; a match is rejected and the upload returns to your quota automatically; anything the check can't decide is held for a person to review.
Does my upload quota expire?
No. There is no subscription and no monthly reset. Quota you buy today still publishes a loop two years from now.
What is upload quota, exactly?
A usage allowance on your own account that lets you publish audio files. It is not currency: it has no cash value, it cannot be transferred to another producer, and it is never paid out. There is no way to pay, tip or commission anyone on ColabLoop.
Your account & privacy3
Who can see my contact details?
Nobody, until it matters. Your IPI number, PRO affiliation, email and the private handles on your account are never shown on any page. They are sent to exactly one producer, exactly once — automatically, the first time a collaborator downloads your full file inside an active collaboration. Any links you add to the public-links section of your profile are separate, and those are public by design.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, but it is handled by hand rather than by a button — email us and we will do it. Some records have to survive for the other side of a collaboration you were part of, so the account is anonymised rather than erased outright.
How do I report a loop?
Use the contact page. Copyright complaints go through the notice process on our copyright page; anything else reaches the same inbox and a person reads it.
Still stuck?
Write to us with the email address on your account and what you were trying to do. A person reads every message.
